This year my friend is hosting a Halloween get-together which will feature a pumpkin carving contest, delectable treats, and a scary movie marathon. It's the movie marathon that I'm really excited about. We're going to do a "history of scary movies" type of theme. We'll start with the old black and white horror classics, then progress to some of the spookier flicks from the eighties and nineties. We'll finally finish it up with some of the newer films. My friend has a home theater system which is just incredible, including one of the new projection televisions. I can't wait to see how well projection televisions will display each of these movies. I already know that the newer films will look spectacular, but I'm curious about the older films, and in what ways projection televisions can revive the old classics. I suspect they are more than up to the task of breathing new and vibrant life into these classic movies of the past. My husband walked in to the kitchen this morning and handed me my sons Christmas wish list, which includes items like a home theater system and a new computer. At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the list that my son came up with. I know he’s 16 and at an age when he wants to have more adult things, but a home theater system?  

 

When I commented to my husband about the extravagant list, he said that our son told him that he didn’t expect all the items on the list, but that one or two would be nice. His top choice on the list is the home theater system. He actually put a number beside each item on the list, which indicates his order of importance on how much he wants each item.   While he definitely won’t get every item on the list, he is a great kid and I figure that my husband can at least swing one item on the list, and maybe two. Looks like he’ll at least get the home theater system, and the rest is yet to be determined.

My little brother just bought his first home and called us to get our opinion on where to find the best price on LCD flat screen TVs.  My husband and I had him on speaker phone when he called, because he said he wanted to talk to both of us, and after asking a few other questions about decorating, floor tiles and carpet, he asked us about the LCD flat screen TVs.  It was an easy answer for both of us, because we know that the best place to find LCD flat screen TVs for the best price is the Internet. We explained that we’d just recently bought ourselves a new flat screen for our bedroom, and told him where we bought it. We also told him about the amount of money we saved by ordering it online, as opposed to purchasing it in our local electronics superstore.  My brother was convinced and asked if he could come over so we could browse some of the sites for LCD flat screen TVs and help him choose a couple for his new home.  I told him to come on over, and that when we finished looking at LCD flat screen TVs that he could stay for dinner.  He said he was on his way; there was no way he was passing up a free meal.
]]> Wed, 07 Oct 2009 06:14:56 GMT <![CDATA[Date Nights Better At Home With a Home Theater System]]> home theater system, projection tv screenMy husband and I like to go on date nights together to keep the romance alive.  We used to go to the movie theater but lately we've started using our home theater system instead.  We have found that it's not only less expensive but also more romantic.  Being able to snuggle on the couch is wonderful, and something we can't do at the theater because of the armrests.  We are all alone at home with our home theater system, with all the kids in bed, unlike the theater where there are crowds and strangers all around us.  Even the picture on our HD projection TV screen is better than the picture at the movies!  We enjoy making some goodies to eat while we watch a movie.  Sometimes we make brownies or cookies, and sometimes we have chips and dip.  It's much less expensive than snacks at the theater, and they taste better.  Plus we don't have to pay admission, we just watch a movie we already own. Our home theater system is all in all a better movie experience for our date nights.

Even though I have owned several LCD flat screen TVs for quite some time now, and even though I see my LCD flat screen TVs and watch TV on them nearly every single day. But there is something about their flushness, the way that they sink into the wall; thanks to the TV wall mounts I used to save space and make my living room and bedroom really tie together. Perhaps it is the flat, smooth screen, the sleek body of the frame, or the high-tech and savvy looks that they exude. I know one thing is for sure, the LCD flat screen TVs that I own look a heck of a lot better inside of my home than any other TVs I have ever owned. But more importantly, they really have a screamingly high clarity to the video, and the resolution is first-rate; 1080p on both of my LCD flat screen TVs. It seems that I am not alone in my love for this burgeoning new technology. Nearly everywhere that I go, I am seeing more and more LCD flat screen TVs in businesses, sports bars and even restaurants.

]]> Fri, 25 Sep 2009 15:50:23 GMT <![CDATA[TV wall mounts great for space saving.]]> tv wall mount, lcd flat screen tvsI have a TV wall mount in my bedroom and find it to be a great space saver.  They're especially nice for LCD flat screen TVs, like the one I have.  It looks so sleek hanging on a TV wall mount.  I can tilt and turn my TV wall mount so I can see my television from any angle in my room.  It's the perfect height for watching TV in bed, which I love to do.  I have my kids' televisions up on TV wall mounts also.  It saves space in their smaller rooms and keeps their little fingers off the screens.  My girls have bunk beds in their room, so with their TV on TV wall mounts, both of them can see it with no problem.  Saving space in bedrooms is important to me.  My room isn't tiny but is not huge either, so saving space with TV wall mounts is perfect.  The kids rooms are smaller so TV wall mounts come in handy there.  Shopping online for TV wall mounts is great, it saves me time and money.

]]> Mon, 07 Sep 2009 17:37:14 GMT <![CDATA[Looking Over LCD Flat Screen TVs]]> My Father asked us to help look over some good LCD flat screen TVs.  After going internet shopping, we found several we thought he might not only like; but, some that came with a TV wall mount or whatever would best fit his home theater system.  After he reviewed our finds, he decided on a Philips 32" Doby Surround Sound HDTV.  He opted to not utilize a TV wall mount; so, we checked on some possible book shelves or whatever he was interested in purchasing. 

My Mother's eyes are not as good as they once were; so, the larger television was a great replacement for them.  We had even suggested a larger Projection TV screen; but, my Father was pleased with his choice, and more importantly, so was my Mother.  We ordered their new equipment, and my husband went over to help with the installation.  My dear, sweet husband also added some extra ceiling speakers so both my parents might be able to hear from the other rooms if necessary.  Now, I believe they are all set!

Motorized Projection Screen


I want to put a projection TV screen in my garage. It may seem like a strange place to put a projection TV screen but it makes a lot of sense to me. We don’t use our garage to park our cars. I hang out with my friends in the garage on game nights. It is as sound proof as I can make it.

We have a couple couches, tables and a fridge out there. We don’t have to worry about making a mess, or being too loud. Some evenings and most weekends, our son and his friends hang out in the garage. They play video games, watch movies and TV shows. They also have band practice there. They have been videotaping themselves. Again they don’t have to worry about making a mess or being too loud. Occasionally we have my youngest sons friends over. I like letting them watch movies in the garage. On warm summer nights we open up the garage and sit in chairs on our driveway to watch movies. It is actually becoming a neighborhood event. Adding a projection TV screen to the mix will make everything even more fun.

We waited until the new televisions came out that would support the High Definition feature which came in our lives recently!  Finally, after searching high and low, we found the perfect one.  It was a Memorex HDTV.  We were so surprised by the reasonable price, and we ordered it right away.  We are putting a home theater system in our new basement, and everyone is so excited.  I think my husband wants the boys to have "the" place to have their friends over, and I can't agree more!  Not only will the boys have a gathering place; but, my husband and I will have an outstanding place to socialize.  His job requires a lot of one-on-one, get-to-know you time with clients, and this will be the perfect setting.

Of course, this means we must consider a Projection TV screen; but, that's a little in the future.  Right now, the HDTV along with proper TV wall mounts will work just fine.  Oh, I think I'll order a popcorn machine...maybe a small refrigerator, hum...this is a growing project!

For some reason whenever I think of projection televisions, they remind me of the 80s.  I don't know why.  I mean, I know they're still around although the projection televisions of today are different than the ones in the 80s.  Of course when I think of projection televisions, I always think of the projectors that are ceiling mounted and project an image on a screen.  Much like a movie theater, or the projectors and screens at my church.  But googling just now I saw some sweet looking rear projector televisions.  The more I look at those, the more I'm thinking of going that route when I am finally at the point where I will be furnishing my own home theater. 

My brother-in-law has a wall mounted flat panel, and my oldest brother has a ginormous wide screen (pretty flat) that has a stand to set on a console or something.  But looking at the rear projection televisions, I'm thinking that's the way to go for me.  From what I've read, they are lighter than the wall units, and probably most other TVs out there.  Since it seems like I always do upgrades/changes to my own little home theater system by myself here, it will be nice to have something that I can move on my own.  Because it could take me months to get someone to come over to help, with everyone being so busy.

I'm sitting there at the track. Two weeks ago, I went to turn it on to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs and nothing happened. No picture. No sound. No nothing. I called a repairman to come look at it and he told
me it could cost about $900 to fix it. The projection television just wasn't worth it.

My option then was to upgrade to one of those LCD flat screen TVs. I was putting this off because my projection television was working fine. Now, though with the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the NBA Finals going on, I had to have something. After the repairman left, I got online and began searching for LCD flat screen TVs. After an hour of searching and learning more about LCD flat screen TVs, I found one that had a great
price and, while not as big as mine, still was over 40". It arrived two days later, just in time for the next game in the playoffs and I love it.

Family friends of mine had recently bought themselves a new home theater system with their tax money. They were really excited about the new flat screen tv they'd gotten online at a bargain price. Since the husband is a do-it-yourself kind of guy, they decided to save even more money, and he installed the TV wall mount himself. Only he didn't follow all of the instructions...

It was a couple of days after the TV wall mount was installed that they had a huge mishap. The mount detached from the wall when one of the kids accidentally hit the television with the ball they were playing with. Fortunately, none of the kids were hurt in the incident, but there were some big holes in the sheetrock where the TV wall mount used to be! They didn't end up saving much money installing it themselves, because they ended up paying a local contractor a few more dollars to come in and repair the wall, as well as install the TV wall mount properly.

We recently purchased an LCD Flat Screen TV for Christmas. It was our big family gift this year. Once we had it set up, I noticed that it has a bunch of connections on the left side. I am slightly technologically challenged and found myself wondering, "What on earth are they all for?"

LCD flat screen TVs have several different cable connections, allowing the user to thoroughly enjoy all the benefits of these TVs. The first connector cable on LCD flat screen TVs is for HD component AV cables. I can hook up my audio and visual components to LCD flat screen TVs for the clearest sound and picture available.

The second connection available on LCD flat screen TVs is for a home theater system set-up. This is the HDMI cable. HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. I can hook this up to any high definition DVD player, cable box, or satellite, and I can receive the same clear, sharp pictures with brilliant color that I would expect to see on LCD flat screen TVs. HDMI cables also have the advantage of fewer tangled chords behind the LCD flat screen TVs. What mom doesn't love that feature?

The third connection available on LCD flat screen TVs is for a DVI to HDMI cable. DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface. Like my HDMI cable, it will connect HDMI-enabled devices to LCD flat screen TVs, but it doesn't include the audio component. I would need to purchase a seperate audio cable in order to hear the sound. DVI-enabled devices include PCs. This makes me happy, because I can watch anything from the internet on my LCD flat screen TV. Think YouTube, favorite television shows, and more!  

With a little bit of research and shopping, I have found everything I need to make good use of my LCD flat screen TV.

I have been wondering why movie theaters have not adopted an updated projection TV screen. With such great quality coming out of home theater system components, it never made sense why movie theaters could never stay up with the curve especially when charging 10 dollars a ticket. Regal Cinemas has made a deal with Sony to install new projectors in their 500+ movie theaters. These will be high resolution projection televisions that will add a spark of life back into going to the movies.

People still love the theater but it is no secret that they’re struggling. Part of the reason was that people could get much higher quality video at home. Sony is a brand that never falls short making them a great choice for the update. Lets hope other cinemas decide to make the same move. Regal is on to something here. Can’t wait to see what their new projection televisions look like but be ready to wait 3 to 5 years for it all to be finished. You could say the switch is going to move at a snail’s pace.

Seriously, every time I look at my LCD flat screen TVs I am amazed by how far televisions have come. I still remember, when the only televisions we had at home we black and white. The day we started seeing color, it was incredible but today’s LCD flat screen TVs are absolutely out of this world. The first time I brought my LCD flat screen TVs home I had to make sure that it was an actual television and not a window to somewhere else, because the graphics were so real that I think it’s really hard to distinguish the from the real thing. If you are thinking of getting one of these pieces of heaven just keep one thing in mind. When buying LCD flat screen TVs, make sure to follow your eyes. Don’t get too hung up on LCD flat screen TVs specification sheets, because it does not matter how good it looks on paper if it does not look good to you. Much of the numbers being thrown around by the manufacturers definitely should play into the decision a bit, but it should all boil down to how they look on your eyes. Megapixel count, contrast ratio and motion response should not matter if the picture already looks great. Let me tell you, your home theater system room will love you for brining one of these home.

If you want a new television in your bedroom, consider looking at LCD flat screen TVs.  Of course you can use LCD flat screen TVs in any room in your home.  The reason I'm focusing on bedrooms for LCD flat screen TVs is because of the issue of space, plus you can see it really well from bed if hung on the wall using a wall mount. I remodeled my bedroom recently and the finishing touch was going to be a television.  After a lot of research, I narrowed it down to LCD flat screen TVs.  The LCD flat screen TVs have a crisp and clear picture, especially on HDTV channels.  It's like the show is happening right there in your room, and the color is just fabulous. LCD flat screen TVs have become quite affordable now too.  I love that the LCD flat screen TVs are so thin, and take up so little room.  Whether you hang it on a wall mount, or set it on a dresser or other furniture, LCD flat screen TVs take no space at all.
